Dr. Shaoping Hou studies autonomic consequences after spinal cord injury, particularly lower urinary tract and cardiovascular disorders. His lab elucidates spinal neural mechanisms regulating autonomic adaptation and then employs multiple approaches (neural progenitor cell transplantation, axon regeneration, and cell reprogramming) to reconstitute disrupted supraspinal pathways for autonomic functional recovery following spinal cord injury.
